Upgrade Preparation
Suggest an editPrepare backups and a test environment before upgrading.
1. Back up your store
Keep a recoverable copy of the database, uploads, configuration and custom code. Confirm you can restore the backup.
2. Read release-specific instructions
Review Release Notes. No universal automatic upgrade procedure is promised; use instructions published for the version you intend to install.
3. Test on a copy
Test the new version on a copy of the store before changing production. Check themes, extensions, checkout, customer accounts and order management.
4. Plan the change
Schedule the update and preserve a rollback path. Re-test the live store after the change and monitor orders and errors.
